Alejandro Touriño and Alonso Hurtado, partners at the Firm, have been recognized as two of the Top 40 under Forty lawyers in the Iberian market.

Organized by Iberian Lawyer publication, the Iberian Lawyer Top 40 under Forty Awards aim to recognize the professional career of the best under 40s in Spain and Portugal. This fifth edition, organized in collaboration with Unicef, had a jury composed of more than 25 recognized professionals who lead some of the most important companies worldwide: NH Hoteles, PepsiCo, Grupo Planeta, Mediapro, CBRE, among others , who  have evaluated more than 300 applications.

The Award’s ceremony, held last Thursday in Barcelona at the Hotel Juan Carlos I, has recognized the leadership and professional career of Alonso Hurtado and Alejandro Touriño, consisting for Alejandro on the second Top 40 under Forty award he receives during his career, and added to the received last week when he was elected one of the best law professors in Spain by the students of the most prestigious universities and business schools.

 

About Alejandro Touriño

Managing partner at ECIJA Madrid office, and Head of Information Technology.

Alejandro is also arbitrator for the World Intellectual Property Organization to resolve disputes concerning domain names and trademarks. He has extensive experience, both nationally and internationally, on issues related to intellectual property, new technologies and entrepreneurship law.

Lecturer and professor  at prestigious universities and business schools (IE Law School, University of Navarra, ICADE, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, etc.) and Director of the Program “Startup lawyers” in the IE Law School, where he has directed other programs and has been repeatedly recognized as an outstanding lecturer.

Awarded with “Top 40 under forty”  Iberian Lawyer awards, recognized as an outstanding lawyer in his practice areas by Best Lawyers, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, and selected as the best lawyer in Spain for New Technologies sector by the international publication IT Law Lawyer experts.

Alejandro is a member of the European Alliance of New Technologies “World IT Lawyers”, a member of Denae (Spanish Association of Entertainment Law) and founding partner of ENATIC (Association of National Advocacy Experts ICT). He has also been the representative of the  MERITAS Leadership Institute in the EMEA Region.

LLB  from the Universidad Santiago de Compostela; LLM in International Law and International Relations from the Universidad Complutense Madrid and LLM in Legal Practice from the Universidad Complutense Madrid. Degree in ”Intellectual Property Law and Entertainment Law” by IE Law School.

Among his most recent publications, stands out his coordination of the First “Memento en Derecho de las Nuevas Tecnologías” (Lefebvre – El Derecho, 2017) and “El Derecho al olvido y la intimidad en internet”, (La Catarata, 2014).

 

About Alonso Hurtado

Partner of Information Technology, Risk & Compliance at ECIJA. Alonso Hurtado, has a deep and wide experience in all type of matters related to IT law, advising to top level public and private organizations on IT, telecoms & internet, data protection, IT security, ecommerce and biotech issues. Alonso has a professional background of more than 10 years in advising leading Spanish and international companies, on matters related to IT, telecoms & internet, and compliance regulations.

In addition he has played an active role during his professional career in the elaboration process of numerous regulations related to IT law, in particular, related to electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal EU market. Prior to joining ECIJA Alonso worked as attorney for two leading IT boutiques of the Spanish market until founding its own law firm LexTIC.

Alonso has obtained an LLB and LLM in IT & Telecoms law from University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain); LLM in Employment and Outsourcing law from University San Pablo CEU of Madrid. Additionally he has followed higher studies in biotech law at UNED. Alonso is associated professor at the Privacy and IT law at Centro de Estudios Jurídicos (CEJ), University Carlos III of Madrid, Centro Universitario Villanueva; also is VP of legal affairs at Innova Global Technologies España.
