Paola Checo focuses her practice in mergers and acquisition, corporate law, intellectual property and tax advise. She represents multinational clients in the structuring and reorganization of their commercial interests and investments in the Dominican Republic, mainly in the areas of financial services, manufacturing and construction, as well as in general project finance.
She provides advise to clients on commercial issues and tax matters, as well as strategic transactions, representing companies in different sectors such as free trade zone, banking, tourism, baseball industry. Paola has participated in the creation of complex corporate structures for the implementation and operation of these companies in the country. Also, she has experience with incorporation of Dominican entities, establishment of domicile of foreign entities, incorporation of non-profit organizations, national and foreign. Additionally, Paola has collaborated in the analysis and review of several agreements in due diligence process, for national as well as international transactions.
Before joining ECIJA, Paola worked in several firms in Santo Domingo and Santiago, Dominican Republic. While studying for her master in Boston, Massachusetts she did an internship at the Dominican Consulate. She also did an internship with one of the biggest groups specialized in mining law in Santiago, Chile.
