Gabriel Dejarden, a partner in ECIJA’s Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic office has been appointed to serve as Co-Chair of the Cross-Border Real Estate Committee of the American Bar Associations´s (ABA) Section of International Law. Gabriel Dejarden will be exercising this role for the third consecutive year, appointment that runs for a one-year term and began in the present month of August.

Mr. Dejarden’s Real Estate practice encompasses the representation of MLB baseball teams, commercial real estate and hospitality companies in connection with the acquisition, sale and/or development of real estate assets, such as baseball academies, shopping malls and high end hotels and developments. He is a graduate of Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Magna Cum Laude, Georgetown University Law Center (LLM International Legal Studies) and is a member of the American Bar Association since 2009. Most of his work is focused in the Dominican Republic and Northern Latin America.

Regarding his appointment, Gabriel, commented: “I am very honored to continue to serve the members of the Cross Border Real Estate Committee and the Section of International Law of the ABA in this role. The section is a wonderful organization with 17,000 members in 100 countries dedicated to promote the rule of Law, provide educational opportunities, assist in the design of public policy, carry out publications and provide practical assistance related to international law. Together with my colleague Luis Castro, we plan, among other initiatives, to encourage webinars on the most recent trends found in Cross Border Real Estate considering the current Covid-19 context, continuing to publish our traditional newsletter and incentivizing additional virtual networking opportunities among other members”.
