Eduardo Benavides is a partner in the areas of International Litigation and Arbitration, Civil Law, and Commercial Law. He has been a partner at Berninzon & Benavides Abogados since 1999 and is currently an arbitrator listed with the Arbitration and Conflict Resolution Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru – Amcham. He is also a member of the International Bar Association, among other associations.
He serves as Vice President of the Board of the Peruvian-British Chamber of Commerce and is a Board Member of the Peruvian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, in addition to being Director and Secretary of the Swiss Cultural Fund.
Regarding his recognitions, Eduardo has been ranked in the Who’s Who of Professionals, in Which Lawyer, Chambers Latin America, and Latin Lawyer 250, and included in the 2023 Ranking of Legal Opinion Experts by Leaders League. He is regarded as the only Peruvian jurist chosen as a Fellow of The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.
Eduardo has been a speaker at over 80 seminars, conferences, and academic and legal events, both nationally and internationally, including, among others, the Annual Meeting of the International Bar Association, the Latin America Conference for the German Economy, and the Annual Meeting of the New York State Bar Association.
Eduardo has been a member of the Review Commissions for the Civil Code and the Commercial Code; the Advisory Commission on Obligations and Contracts of the Lima Bar Association; and has advised the Commission for the Reform of the Civil Code and the Company Code Commission.
He graduated “Summa Cum Laude” from the Law School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and has postgraduate studies in Heidelberg, Germany, and ESAN, Lima.
