In Mexico City, ECIJA has hired as lead partner for its labor and employment practice to help field the crush of demand for advice from companies moving production and supply chains to Mexico from Asia.

Her expertise includes corporate restructurings, M&A, social security litigation, and close collaboration with federal authorities, ECIJA said. the firm said she played a pivotal role as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Business Coordinating Council in Mexico, influencing reforms to the Social Security Law regarding outsourcing.
Ávila Morfín began her career at Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, a prominent Mexican firm that specializes in tax matters. Along the way, she has twice worked at Baker McKenzie, while also putting in several years at both Mexico’s Basham, Ringe y Correa, and Littler.
Before joining ECIJA, Ávila Morfín had her own law firm. She will be ECIJA’s eighth partner based in Mexico.
Joaquín Rodríguez, member of the executive committee of ECIJA Mexico, highlighted that the incorporation of Ávila Morfín is key to the firm since labor matters are crucial for most companies operating in Mexico, as well as for the many others currently interested in establishing themselves in the country to take advantage of near-shoring momentum.
