Ecija to absorb Barcelona firm

Madrid-based Ecija has announced that it is to expand in Barcelona with the integration of local firm Legal Link.

Ecija is considered one of Spain’s leading IT, IP and media-focused law firms and has developed an innovative line in ‘off-the-shelf’ and standardised legal products for its clients both inside and out of Spain.

Founded in 2000, Legal Link counts eight lawyers in Barcelona and also has a small presence in Madrid. The firm focuses on communications, technology and media is led by partner Xavier Muñoz who will join Ecija as the local partner in charge of Telecoms and Technology.

The union further expands the Ecija’s national profile, building on its established small presence in Barcelona, as well as Salamanca and Cadiz. Since 2009 the firm has also operated an office in Miami focused towards Spanish and other businesses operating in the US and Latin America.  The latest move will however significantly expand its presence among Barcelona’s leading media and technology clusters.

The 300-lawyer and consultant firm is led by partners Hugo and Álvaro Ecija and last year reported revenues of around €19.6 million, a 10% increase on the previous year.
