Carlos Pérez joins ECIJA as Information Technology partner. By joining the Firm, ECIJA reinforces the areas of regulatory, data protection and intellectual property law.

Carlos Pérez, Carlos Perez, has been adviser during 20 years of the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in Spain, the largest association at worldwide level for the intellectual property right defense of the software industry. In addition he has played an active role during his professional career in the elaboration process of numerous regulations related to new technology law, in particular, related to the Spanish data protection Act, intellectual property Act and Information Society Act; and counts on 20 years of experience in information technology and telecoms law, concretely, in the privacy, intellectual property, IT outsourcing, Internet, social media, e-commerce and online marketing law.

ECIJA strengthens its leadership in the Catalonian market in the areas of information technology, regulatory, data protection and intellectual property law with Carlos Pérez joining the same.

Carlos Pérez, has a professional background of more than 20 years in advising leading Spanish and International companies, on matters related to information technology, telecommunication, intellectual property law and compliance on regulations associated to these areas.

Carlos Pérez has developed great part of its career in Landwell – PwC Tax & Legal Services, where he joined in 1998. In PwC he has been partner and Head of the Information Technology Department of the firm in Spain. Carlos Perez is LLB in Law by the University of Barcelona, MBA by ESADE Business School in Barcelona and associated professor at the same School in its Intellectual Property and Information Society Masters; also he has the International CISA Certification, as qualified information technology systems’ auditor by the ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association).

Carlos Pérez has a deep and wide experience in all type of matters related to information technology and telecommunication law, advising to top level public and private organizations on data protection, intellectual property, telecommunications, IT outsourcing, Internet, social networks, ecommerce and online marketing issues. Additionally he has advised to one the first Spanish banks on the drafting of its Binding Corporate Rules regarding its international data transfers across the multi-national group structure.

Carlos Perez, advises to national and international clients, from all sectors of the economy, in Spanish, Catalan and English languages.

Carlos Pérez joins as partner and Head of the Information Technology, to the team of ECIJA in Barcelona, which has already twenty lawyers, since the signing of Gabriel Nadal and his team at the beginning of the present year; and the recent signing of Juan Amigó Müller as partner of the Real Estate area. The team has extensive international experience through the work of many of its lawyers in leading law firms both in Europe and in the United States.
