Jesús brings a deep understanding of financial law and a proven ability to navigate complex cross-border transactions, making him a trusted advisor to clients in Spain and beyond.
Jesús Estévez is a highly experienced transactional lawyer with extensive expertise in structured finance, banking, restructuring, and project finance. With over two decades of practice, Jesús has advised on more than 100 complex transactions valued at over €15 billion, serving domestic and international financial institutions, as well as large corporates.
Before joining ECIJA, Jesús was a partner at prominent firms such as Mazars/DWF-RCD, EY Abogados, Baker McKenzie, and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. At Mazars/DWF-RCD, Jesús acted as preferred legal counsel for leading institutions such as Arcano, Abanca Corporación Bancaria, and Corporación Empresarial Pascual in high-profile structured finance deals.
During his tenure at EY Abogados, Jesús led the Transaction Law practice as a member of the management team for EY Legal Practice. His work included advising on structured finance matters for key clients and earning recognition in Chambers & Partners Europe (Band 2).
At Baker McKenzie, Jesús spearheaded the Banking & Finance practice, handling structured asset finance transactions involving shipping, large aircraft, corporate jets, and renewables. He also managed complex banking, restructuring, and project finance matters for major Spanish and international financial institutions, including HSBC and Société Générale.
Earlier in his career, Jesús served as a senior associate in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s finance department, where he worked on innovative and highly structured transactions, including Spanish Operating Leases (SOL) and cross-border sale and lease-back arrangements. During his tenure, he was seconded to the Structured Asset Finance Department in London, further deepening his international expertise.
