Carlos del Razo participates in a discussion between AMIA and the Undersecretary of Environmental Regulation of SEMARNAT
On March 27, Carlos del Razo, senior partner of the Sustainability and Environment area at ECIJA Mexico, participated in a discussion organized by the Mexican Academy of Environmental Impact (AMIA), A.C., where he had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Ileana Villalobos, Undersecretary of Environmental Regulation of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT).
During the meeting, priority topics for the national environmental agenda were addressed, such as Environmental Impact Assessment, the regulation of coastal ecosystems and their federal maritime-terrestrial zone, and the control of hazardous waste and materials. It was especially valuable to hear firsthand the Undersecretary’s vision and plans regarding these fundamental instruments for responsible environmental management in Mexico.
Carlos del Razo thanked his colleagues on the AMIA Board of Directors for joining him in the presidium during this event, highlighting the participation of Magdalena Colunga and Alma Escamilla, and in particular, Jessica Labra Granados for her insightful moderation of the discussion.
The event fostered in-depth reflection on current regulatory challenges and the importance of strengthening technical collaboration between civil society, the private sector, and authorities.
AMIA reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate closely with SEMARNAT (Secretariat of Environmental Affairs) in the design and improvement of effective and transparent environmental regulations aimed at promoting responsible investments in communities and our country’s natural capital.
These types of forums represent a strategic opportunity for institutional strengthening and the promotion of a sustainable development agenda with a solid legal foundation.
