This movement is part of the Firm’s strategic plan to become a leader in Latin America, where it already has a presence in 12 countries and more than 600 professionals.

ECIJA continues its ambitious growth strategy in Latin America, this time with the integration of INTEGRUM, a leading firm in the Guatemalan market, which renews ECIJA’s practice in the country. With this move, ECIJA consolidates its position as the largest Firm in the Latin American market, as well as its commitment to offer a full service at an international level.

INTEGRUM has over 23 years of history and is one of the most recognized firms in its respective areas of expertise, standing out in the Guatemalan market for its expertise in Competition Law, Oil & Gas, Dispute Resolution: Litigation and Arbitration, Corporate and M&A, Compliance, Tax, Labor and Infrastructure, among others. ECIJA’s new team in Guatemala, territory where ECIJA has been operating since 2018, will temporarily operate under the ECIJA INTEGRUM brand.

The operation means the welcome to ECIJA of a total of 13 new professionals and three partners: Marcos Palma, Edson López and Pablo Cóbar, with a wide professional experience in the Central American market. Thus, ECIJA now has a total of 26 offices in 15 countries, 125 partners and more than 600 professionals worldwide, through its presence in Europe and Latin America.

The new integration takes place shortly after the integration of ECIJA with the Ecuadorian firm ECIJA GPA and the Brazilian CTA ECIJA, thus reinforcing not only the firm’s position as the largest Spanish firm in Latin America, but also its leadership in the energy and natural resources practice in the region.

In the words of Hugo Écija, ECIJA’s founder and Executive President: “Our eyes look towards Latin America. Guatemala is the largest market in Central America, a key territory due to its strategic location, representing a reference point with markets such as the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. With this movement, we aspire to make an important quantitative and qualitative leap in our international accompaniment of clients”.

Marcos Palma, founding partner of INTEGRUM, said: “Without a doubt we all seek to grow, and we have been presented with the valuable opportunity to do so without leaving behind the mystique of work and innovation that has characterized our firm for more than 23 years of presence in Guatemala, a market in which we have led non-conventional practice areas. In ECIJA, a leading global firm in the digital economy, we find the reflection of our culture, which translates into global reach and state-of-the-art resources at the service of our clients. We are highly motivated to be part of a project that is not only ambitious but also focused on the future of our profession”.
