ECIJA qualifies as finalist in five categories of Expansion’s VIII Edition of Legal Awards
The Firm is a finalist in digital economy, intellectual property, sports and entertainment, diversity and inclusion, and the best lawyer categories.
The finalists for Expansion’s Legal Awards of 2023 have been announced. The awards, which are distributed amongst 24 different categories, are of consolidated reference in Spain’s law sector, business sector, and count with the technical oversight of IE Law School.
In total, Expansion’s Legal Awards have counted with the participation of more than a hundred law firms and consulting firms, totalling over 300 candidates submitted for assessment.
Within this arena, ECIJA, winner of 7 previous Expansion awards, has once again qualified as a finalist in a total of five categories.

- Best firm in IP
- Best firm in Sports and Entertainment
- Best firm in diversity and inclusion
- Best Lawyer of the Year: Alejandro Touriño, ECIJA’s managing partner.
The winners will be announced at the gala, an event celebrated the 22nd of June, in the Palace of the Dukes of Pastrana, in Madrid.
The selection criteria to identify the elite practitioners of the Spanish law sector has a variety of different dimensions. These range from total turnover and its evolution over the past year, the operations in which the candidates have participated in 2022, growth rate to profitability per partner, and there is even consideration of positioning within international rankings, like Chambers & Partners.
The decisive jury which will be granting the awards is composed of legal experts, board-members of IBEX 35 companies, managing partners, and presidents of the largest law firms in the country.
