With this appointment, ECIJA now has 95 partners in 13 countries, 51 of them in Spain
With more than 10 years of experience in intellectual property, technology contracting, digital services and information technologies, and after her previous experience in firms such as Eversheds, PwC or Accenture, Cristina Villasante has joined the Firm’s list of partners, after occupying in the last two years the role of manager of ECIJA’s TMT area in the Madrid office.
Since joining ECIJA in 2018, Cristina Villasante has contributed decisively to the development of ECIJA’s TMT area, providing a solid technical knowledge and a clear business vision, as well as an orientation to the needs and interests of the market and the legal sector. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the important work that the new ECIJA partner has carried out in the field of digital transformation operations and outsourcing of technology services for clients in all sectors of activity such as finance and insurance, tourism, advertising, retail or audiovisual.
The new partner of ECIJA has also coordinated since her arrival to the Firm a practice group dedicated to blockchain and distributed registration technologies, leading some of the most relevant transactions in the sector, such as the first round of token investment in Spain or the use by a financial institution of tokens for international payments.
In addition to her enormous value in advising clients, the appointment of Cristina Villasante as the new partner of the Firm is backed by her constant work in disseminating and teaching. Villasante is the director of the recently inaugurated Centre for Legal Innovation at the Universidad Camilo José Cela, aimed at promoting research and innovation in legal services in the digital era. She is also the second vice-president of the Spanish Association of Entertainment Law (Denae) and a lecturer in Icade’s Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property.
ECIJA’s new partner explained her great enthusiasm for the firm since her arrival: “I feel very fortunate to be able to be part of a team with so much talent and in which work is done with such passion. At ECIJA I have the opportunity to be involved in the most innovative projects and the most complex operations, which means that we are constantly facing challenges that help us grow as a team, adding value to our clients”.
For Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of ECIJA, the appointment of Cristina Villasante as partner, the twelfth female partner of the Firm in Spain, “is an act of justice to the work, effort and commitment shown by Cristina in all the time she has been with us. Villasante is a daily example of perseverance and good work. We are delighted that a woman with her talent and courage continues to grow in ECIJA and help us to strengthen our leadership position in the digital economy”.
This new appointment comes at a time of growth for the Firm. After the latest integrations of firms in Chile, Panama and Mexico, ECIJA has managed to exceed the 550 professionals figure and reach almost one hundred partners, consolidating itself among the 5 firms with the highest increase in staff in Spain in the last year.
