Mexico City hosted the “Half-Year May Conference”, organized by the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) and sponsored by ECIJA offices from Barcelona, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Dominican Republic, Uruguay y Mexico.

Joaquín Rodríguez, partner of #EcijaTeam Mexico, was in charge of welcoming the young lawyers to the event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mexico City. During his opening speech he expressed his gratitude to the Organizing Committee, in particular Luis Vega, Daniela Jara, Daniela Flores and Carlos del Razo for their dedication and enthusiasm in the preparation of the Conference. He recalled the last time Mexico had hosted an AIJA event, in 2005 during the Annual Congress, where he had the opportunity to receive a similar group of young lawyers at the Chapultepec Castle.

Rodríguez emphasized the importance of international collaboration and technological adaptation in the legal field, stating, “Robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence are redefining the legal landscape. We must adapt and collaborate to face these challenges.” He also highlighted the necessity of global cooperation to strengthen the legal sector and promote innovation.

The active participation of ECIJA offices from Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Barcelona, and Mexico underscored the firm’s commitment to legal innovation and support for an emerging generation of lawyers.

The AIJA Half-Year May Conference in Mexico City offered an invaluable opportunity for attendees to explore and discuss the impact of the digital economy on law. Topics ranged from artificial intelligence to smart contracts, providing participants with innovative and valuable insights into how these technologies are shaping the future of the legal profession.

Additionally, the event provided a space for networking and international collaboration, allowing young lawyers worldwide to exchange ideas and establish connections that enhance their professional development. Attendees enjoyed a varied agenda, including receptions, dinners, and hospitality activities, enriching both the professional and personal aspects of this unique experience.
