José María Abella
José María is a partner at ECIJA in Dispute Resolution: Litigation and Arbitration, with a professional career of more than 20 years in the practice of law, having provided legal advice and legal defence services for both individuals and legal entities in white collar crime and in equity and corporate law.
He has led civil court proceedings for major companies in the sports, construction and banking sectors, and for individual clients in disputes over estates and dissolutions of jointly held assets.
He is an arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Bar Association, and has participated in various arbitration proceedings to defend the interests of companies before various courts of arbitration.
José María has taught classes at Carlos III University of Madrid and at San Pablo University CEU, and has also participated as a member on various doctoral dissertation boards.
He holds a PhD in Law from San Pablo University CEU and an LLB in Law (Licentiatura en Derecho) from Complutense University of Madrid. For his post-doctoral work, he completed the General Course of the School of Legal Practice of Comillas Pontifical University (ICAI-ICADE) and he is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.
