The ranking of Expansion firms also highlights ECIJA among the five firms that have grown the most in the last year and among the five with the highest international business

Once again, Expansión (Financial Times newspaper partner in Spain) has published its ranking of firms in Spain, in which this year’s edition highlights ECIJA’s spectacular growth in the last year, both in terms of turnover, where it has surpassed the 50 million euro barrier, and in regards to the number of professionals, where the Firm has experienced a growth of over 30%, with more than 500 professionals on staff.

The firm, which has stood out from its origins for its leadership in TMT and in digital economy, is now consolidated as a full-service firm with a broad international presence. In this regard, the newspaper highlights that “the firm headed by Hugo Écija (…) had a record year in terms of national and international integrations of other firms in its structure, which implies this important increase in its results”.

ECIJA has incorporated a total of 15 firms to its structure in the last two years, 9 of them during 2019, in addition to the celebration of a strategic joint venture with the Chinese firm Grandall Law, the fourth largest in the Asian country. These milestones were driven by ECIJA’s internationalization model, which aims at consolidating ECIJA among the reference firms in the international scenario, accompanying its clients at a global scale.

This growth has allowed the Firm to be placed among the five Spanish firms that are growing the most, as well as among the five Spanish firms with the highest turnover abroad and the Spanish firm with the greatest presence in Latin America, where it already has a presence in 10 territories.

In the words of Hugo Écija, Executive President and founder of ECIJA: “Without a doubt, 2019 has been a year that has set a precedent in the Firm. Not only have we consolidated our position as the largest Spanish firm in Latin America, but we have also built a bridge to Asia for our clients, in addition to leading one of the largest mergers in the Spanish legal market with Jiménez de Parga Abogados, among other integrations, which has led us to reinforce practices within the firm such as Corporate and M&A, Venture Capital, Tax, Labour and Litigation”.

Pablo Jiménez de Parga, ECIJA’s Vice-President, has emphasized that the Firm’s internationalization strategy is focused on the clients’ needs and, therefore, the Firm aims to announce new movements in the international field in 2020.
